The only places I see sand lines

or equivalent, is when boats are moored between two pilings. Norwalk CT and Branford CT are two such harbors where they do this, along the edges of the channel. The goal is to keep the boats lined up with the edges of the channel because they don't want them to swing 360-degrees. (The channel has limited width and the area outside the channel shoals abruptly.) They usually float the lines between stations.

If I were to pull up to one of these I'd handle pretty much the same as a monohull, but I'd do it from the outer hull. Then I'd transfer to the center hull once the situation was stable.
