a master breaker now? If not I highly recommend one.
One thing though - if you have an automatic bilge pump and a high water alarm they should not go through the master cut off breaker. They should only run through the bilge pump C/B. Many sailors shut off the panel through a master breaker but the auto bilge pump and high water alarm should never be turned off.

- As Brian and others have suggested, proper disconnect is really the way to go.
