A fuse that is above the cockpit sole would be a good idea.

Having an electric bilge pump which is wired to a battery directly is something that MIGHT or MIGHT NOT be a good idea.

I've had bilge pump switches that have frozen "on" -- that will drain a battery while doing noting to protect the boat;

I've had, on a prior boat, no indication that the bilge pump was working away when I had a stuffing box that was leaking -- I didn't realize it. Now I have a bilge pump switch counter. IF I had not had the bilge pump on, when I checked the bilge after being on that boat, I would have noticed the not significant, but troublesome, leak sooner.

If you currently don't have an electric bilge pump, I'd think about just putting it "behind" the battery switches.

A counter is a good idea!
