badly it's nice to have an audible warning. Two of my bilge pumps have warnings with one pump and warning/float switch set 6 inches higher then the other. If I get the first warning I know I have "an issue." If I get the second warning I know things are going south in a hurry. I believe that a counter would be a good idea. I haven't installed one but have often considered it. The next time I overhaul my bilge pump systems it will probably be on the plans. Yes, it seems counter intuitive to have something on the wrong side of a switch but I guess it's a case of one thing being more negative then the other. The lesser of the two evils if you will.
