Great story! We had time to power 3000 feet, then the motor went under water.

The air intake was high so I shut it down just as it hit the bottom, and we coasted up on a rocky beach. The only reason we still have this boat is because that rocky beach was only 3000 feet away. After a night of dismantling, jury rigging and rubber gaskets and lots of goop, we floated off on the next HT. That ended our 1999 sailing season. But it was an unforgetable season end.
