I'll bet it was a real dog and pony show all night long. It's always the outcome that counts. I think the insurance companies call that "betterment" when you come out better then when you started. At least in your case it was a better design. I hope the boat faired well, I'm sure she did. I was on a 50 foot Hinkley coming into Dana Point Harbor with the centerboard down. Luckily we hit the soft mud and not the rock at the other end of the channel. It made a heck of a racket until I could get it cranked up. It was my first time on the boat and I didn't even know she had lowered it. I think it might have been a similar design to yours because it sounded like it was going to tear the bottom out of her. I shutter to think what it would have been like if we had actually hit the rock. Probably the same outcome. "Hinkley Down!" My big one was the Inter Coastal cement post day marker. In every life a little rain must fall.... I'll tell you how I missed seeing the marker. On second thought, no I won't. I'm to embarrassed. Let's just leave it go. I will say that I was actually looking forward and managed to miss seeing it.
