After over four months on the hard adding some crap on de back of our boat, it is good to be back in the water and underway again. The two extra feet of boat we added to each hull has had the equivalent of removing a few thousand pounds off of it! The boat now performs like it did when it was empty of much of its cruising gear, personal stuff and provisions and just day-sailed on weekends. We tried and failed for 5 years to make it lighter, and then decided it was easier to make it longer instead. An added bonus was the opportunity to completely redesign the scoop steps to be more useable for us. For anyone interested, Michele captured the whole process in a series of blog posts: http://www.svreach.com/boat-blog/
