Planning a new cockpit this winter, Teak is $30.00 per board foot.
In addition to epoxy...
Good idea on the cloth.
I think the other pictures you posted show the teak on a "box lid" or "box"
One method I learned(which I may use) is to fasten the strips with pan head screws, in epoxy.
Tom, I installed the "Gougeon Bros." 1/8" teak deck on Passage and after a few years....
I plan to only use traditional seam compounds, Westy.
Teak strips with the wider bonding area adhered well.
Everyone I know says the caulk from Teak Decking Systems is the best.
It uses black deck caulk
Sounds like a similar technique used at Camper & Nicholsons & no doubt elsewhere
Ah, now I get it. Weights, clamps, screws, lots of methods.

Another detail; the locker top drain scuppers.
2" Ipe delivered-- $9.50.
Here's a teak deck close up.
I've always favored the end grain being trimmed and mitered cornered.
I used some Ipe in my rebuild of Tortuga....
When Tortuga is on the hard, do you call it Dry Tortuga?
I do intend to start using the Petit fillers.
May make the boat feel a lot smaller inside the cabin?
Only on the exterior bright, Steve. I don't do much with the interior. It's out of the sun.
Tom, Pettit has discontinued all of those...
But you guys still carry Interlux stain filler?
Yes...
I have been using the dark mahogany
Our Deck Is Red Meranti
My .02 on Ipe
