which seems to do a good job at keeping things cold but only has a small freezer unit. The wind gen and solar panels seem to be able to keep up with it and the house lights no problem though this is the first week we have left the boat with no power and food in the freezer. So we'll see what the battery state is when we return. We also haven't had the boat long enough to know how well it will work in tropical climates. I suspect it will be fine though the box and lid insulation may not be.
On my last boat I installed a Technautics unit with a freezer box with spill over for the refer, we used a combination of 6" foam where we had the room and vacuum panels on the side walls where room was scarce. Unit used around 30 amps a day, we could keep ice cream in the bottom of the freezer, meat would freeze fine. The refer portion was on the edge, probably would have helped to have installed a fan which we never did. The whole system was easy to install, the compressor was under the galley in the main cabin and very quite. I installed an inline timer to see how often it ran so I could come up with the power draw for a day. One solar panel of 55w kept up with it in Florida and the Bahamas
