I agree with John. It is nice to have refer...and freezing in the Bahamas. Sure, you can live without, but is it really living? We have a big bank (880) and have both a freezer (Seafrost) and refer (AB). They are 12v and we move a lot. No solar or wind generation, but we do have a Honda if we get stuck somewhere. You really can't count on ice unless you are sitting in Nassau or the Abacos, and why would you go to the Bahamas if that's where you will be located?
It gets down to how you want to live. We are deep in the Bahamas for 6-7 months a yr. We take fresh and frozen food, we like ice cubes on our rum, we catch and freeze fish, conch, and lobster. We need to have a freezer to do these things...plain and simple. Figure out how you want to live and "equip" to enable those choices.
