Let's talk anchor rodes!

I read an article by Steve Dashew where he argues the advantage of using polyester double braid line for an anchor rode rather than nylon. He claimed improved chafe resistance as a big advantage and that the polyester provided adequate stretch. Has anyone gone this route? I need to deal with my anchor chain this year since it's getting pretty rusty. I'm thinking of going with about 100' chain and the rest rope rather than replacing an all chain rode. I'm thinking that reducing some weight in the bow would be good and it would also be cost effective. I coastal cruise in Nova Scotia so the only coral you see is the color of the old guys pants at the yacht clubs... The boat is a 35'er @ #15000 with a 44lb Claw( Bruce knockoff)
Thanks, David
