If it's anything like my old CCA design, you know how easily it gets out of trim with weight in the long overhangs. My 38'6" hull with a 27' WL, has a third water tank under the vee berths. Last time I filled it for an extended cruise down the coast, I stepped back at the dock and saw the trim of the boat water altered by several inches.
My boat has a long slender spoon bow which is greatly affected when out of trim. Newer designs can probably carry extra weight without the dramatic change in trim.
Granted, that's about 350 pounds added, but that tank is well back of the anchor locker, say as much as 6' depending on the lump of chains location. It would take even less weight in the anchor locker to change the trim that amount.
Since then I've taken to removing weight from the boat, especially from the bow. I store a few light air sails up there now and little else. I do carry some extra chain with greased shackles ready to go and store it next to another large anchor and rode, all low and close to center.
