is easy to splice. I haven't investigated how best to attach the double braid. My problem, Tom, is that my anchor locker isn't directly under my windlass and "someone" has to crawl up in the forepeak to flake out the 3-strand when hauling the anchor. She doesn't like that...The rope portion of my rode doesn't get used much but the 5/8th nylon is stiff and difficult to stow. We're coastal cruisers and our anchorages here are such that all chain isn't a neccesity so I'm considering options. Cheers, David
