I am putting an electric windlass on my new old boat and would like some thoughts from people about anchor rodes. The anchor will be self launching because getting onto the foredeck of this boat is a bit challenging. Basically I trying to decide between an all chain rode or a mixed rode with only about 50' of chain. The main reason this is a question in my mind is the high cost of chain. An all chain rode will cost more than $500 while 50' of chain plus 150' of line will cost less than $300.

So what is your preference and why do you feel that way.

For reference, I have a mixed rode on my other boat (150' of chain and 150' of line), but never get past the end of the chain
