Most anchorages have mud bottoms. I will go forward after the anchor is down and put on a snubber. Going forward before the anchor is down means leaving the helm for at least 2 minutes, which can be a problem is an anchorage. Hence the self-launching anchor.

- as long as we are on the subject... how do you find out what chain works best?
- I think you COULD get by with a mixed rode; however,

- FYI 5/16" chain is about 1.1 lb. per foot.
- go with a brait rode. won't asshole up and takes up less room in the locker.
