Rope to chain splice may not work unattended

() I've got 8 plait line spliced to 130' of chain. Despite using the windlass manufacturers rccomended rope to chain splice, the splice will not self feed below through the windlass. Doesn't take much massaging but it does take a little personal attention to get the splice to go down the hole. The only reason I don't have 220' of chain is the boat came with the 130' length and works okay for the anchoring I've done so far buth that will soon change as I'll be seeing deeper anchorages.

- Why bother?
- FYI 5/16" chain is about 1.1 lb. per foot.
- go with a brait rode. won't asshole up and takes up less room in the locker.
