I don't know about the reverse economics but the I agree, the cost of doing business

, especially along the water, is going up. Maines historically been a good deal in that respect for a long time. John Alden discovered he could get as good or better quality work done here than southern New England a century ago. Looking at local marine rates here of 65 to 85 / hour compared to Daves experiences of 100/ hour in the Conn. area, that's still the case.

No miracle on our part, just a less costly place to work on boats. One thought for Justin was to sail to Maine, and have the installations done here.

But avoiding your scenario of working waterfront getting turned into condos is a constant threat everywhere. It will take a concerted effort locally and in state governments to help working waterfront stay alive with tax breaks and incentives to keep it working.
