I heard a story about another rant of his. Perhaps the same one. 
In Response To: Gulfstar made a big change in 1976 ()
A story I heard was that they made a new design in the late 70' that was a racer/cruiser (perhaps one the charter trade). When it entered the race it dropped out due to a number of failures. Vince got mad and went through the factory yelling at and firing people demanding a change in quality. Then, I understand he was pretty demanding in general.
His kids are making some fine Italian design megayachts.
