Yes they are. The 2 main ports are what get me.

During the 70's and 80's designers and manufacturers had they're own personal port design. Look at any Cal, Ericson, Catalina, Islander etc. When you look at Hood's main ports they all have that slant to them (parallelograms). The top is ahead of the bottom on both. The Bristols and a number of Gulfstars have the same 2 main ports. It was an understanding I had that those ports were a trademark of Ted Hood during the 70's and 80's.

I guess that along with talking to a guy that owns an AS50 (he said it was designed by Hood) made me believe that Ted Hood was involved in some of the designs of Gulfstars helping Vince Lazzara in a silent advisory position. The ports were a quiet way of putting a bit of signature on it.

Live and learn. I'll go with what Jeremy said from his first hand experience although I'm still a bit perplexed by those ports.
