Cruising Sailors Forum Archive

Another snowbird I've enjoyed following is Roger Long.

Interesting in that he isn't blogging his trip, he's been put in his own forum by Phil. It was quite evident that the followers of his forum were influencing his way down the ICW. Of course the southerners were encouraging him to get south while he tended to enjoy the colder weather(although it never got that cold).

After putting his toes in Florida water, he turned around and is on his way back north. Roger felt some pretty distinct regional differences through the states and wrote about how he felt. It's been a good read.

A zillion people have done and are doing the snowbird thing on the coasts. A few things come out. Age for one, I think that has a big effect on what people will choose to do, go, and at what rate(I know that's so for me). The other is going alone as opposed to going with a partner.

The biggest one is the media connection both Dave and Roger have today. It's good but it's different. Even if you're alone, if you're plugged into the web, you're not alone.
