It's great to get real time reports.

I get the impression from yours and others in the area, that things may be improving compared to our last trip through. At any rate, it's gotten no worse and you can still anchor with reasonable freedom. Thanks for showing that to be so Jon.

The plight of the homeless is enormous in this country and a symptom of our obvious growing financial disparity. But I see no value in condoning or supporting the abuse of the waterways by derelict boats turned into shelters. We shouldn't pretend this has something to do with our rights as mariners.

When you've seen it up close, it's easy to see why communities will impose restrictions on anchoring. I don't blame them.
I'll take restrictions over complete closures, just allow me a safe harbor.

Never mind us, that just want to continue to move freely on the coast and find sheltered anchorages,... closing the anchorages means no one can use them, including the homeless.

This is an easy issue to take the side of the derelict boats, until you've spent some time among them and witness the effects on your right to anchor.

If you want to help the people(and I do) on these boats, the homeless, vote to improve the situation in this country with your ballot and wallet. Let's keep the anchorages.
