In today's dollars that's about $300k for the B40

Today you could get a Beneteau for that price but not a Hinckley. Mind you, they pack a lot more into a 40 footer today than they did back in 1962.

My boat will be 39 years young this summer. She has been sailed lightly over those years until she came under my care in 1998 and I started racing her. Even then it's lake sailing so we manage to avoid heavy weather most of the time. This old C&C has stood up very well with minimal maintenance and if I had the chance to go back and chose again I would buy the same boat. That's the original spinnaker in the second photo, barely used until 1998.
