A beam of less than 9 feet in a 40'er!

That was an old wooden design I guess that they just made into glass. Design changed as fast as the material did then. The glass started to design the boats as soon as it was seen that it didn't care about many of the structural issues wood did. You've got a great boat, your wife was right.
