MFG's were made just South of Erie
In Response To: My first recollection of glass was the MFG motorboats.

() MFG had a decent sized facility outside of Union City, about 15 miles South of Erie. Back in the day, before we were concerned about such things, the rejected hulls were tossed in a field outside of town. I remember seeing piles of scrap as a kid. They stopped making boats and as I recall pretty much liquidiated all that stuff for almost nothing. The plant went on to make other pieces parts for Disney theme parks, a casino or two (Trump as I recall?). Now I think the whole place is shut down? Lots and lots of old MFG tri-hulls around here.
