In 1962, A Hinckley B40 was 39,700.
All boats get reviewed when they're new. We're coming into the 50 year re-review,
The B-40 is timeless
Well Paul...
This one is 52 this year
I always liked those. And the Swiftsure. My boat is a 61 too, Charlie.
I never have either. Did a rework on a customers Pearson Vanguard, by Rhodes
Man talk about out of the blue!! 10 minutes after
The Bounty II was built by Coleman Boat & Plastics of Calif.
"Frozen snot", indeed. There's some consensus Ray Greene built the first glass boat in 1942.

Tom, have you ever heard.....
I don't think so, but it sounds familiar.
My friend, Thomas has a Coleman Plastics Bounty II
Alright! The game changer. Pretty boat.
1961, after the introduction of the Triton
The Bounty IIs
No kidding! They must have been heavier than Spruce.
Tom, I had a moment a few years ago.....
A beam of less than 9 feet in a 40'er!
This one is 40 this year
Ours is a 45 year old design (sort of)
I didn't know the design was that old, Mary Lou.
In today's dollars that's about $300k for the B40
I took me 40 years to realize the dream
Friends of ours have a B-40
Thank you Mary Lou

That's a great boat. Where do you sail, Ron?
Tom,
Double Horizon should be close to that color soon

i like medium blue too
I kind of like them as well
double spreaders
Very nice - never did see your boat!
A beautiful lady. A true sailboat!
That's a beautiful boat Ron...
colorado
We are on the western slope...
Yes, but...
My first recollection of glass was the MFG motorboats.
Plywood Sailfish
MFG's were made just South of Erie
I remember in the 70s I figured roughly $1k per foot
I think it's ironic that some of the "yachts" of yesterday can be had for peanuts today.
Yeah, I'll be able to afford a B40 at age 276!
Yup
Next trend, good question. They won't be building these boats again, they're anachronisms.
We can never go back
The large builders for the mainstream market, I won't make a prediction there.
The shift toward power boats
affordability
The new engine space is a thing of beauty...
He just needs to duct tape them closed so they don't flip open. It'll be fine.
One more thing added to the list
Your investment is secure, Ron.
In '79 we bought a new Pearson 35
New big boats have always been a luxury, but they seem to be going up.
I just looked at the J70. That's what 45,000 buys today.
that's with a trailer, sails, the works -- I understand you just need you and your gear.
With those bucks, I'd buy a Tartan 33!
