I'm trying to understand the orientation. You usually see the water feed tube after a riser so that water cannot return to the exhaust manifold. If the part at the top of the photo is bolted to the exhaust manifold does it bolt on sideways like that or is it like a sink trap with the U at the bottom?
I had a problem with a piece of impeller that lodged into the end of the water feed tube and it would redirect the salt water back into the rear of the manifold. Every time I'd shut off the engine the water would spray back to the rear piston and destroyed it. (major pain ). When I made the new elbow I moved the water feed tube further down so it couldn't happen anymore.
That looks like it could send water back to the engine if it was partially plugged. Very different than a Perkins is.
