Like Light Weight Sheetrock, I look for light and easy. And in my tiny shop, I need them to fold(see the wood ones-that I built- are folders too?) I think you can see one hanging from the ceiling. That's mounted to a table for a chop saw. I just lower it on lines.
No, you couldn't throw a half dozen 2x12x16's but I don't find myself doing that much, these days.

- Are you planning to glass the entire inside of the cockpit well?
- The "modern" approach would be to have a gutter below the lids which drains out into the cockpit.
