And that did it. Looking at the weave coming through after squeegeeing that on, I thought I'd be filling longer. Except for dust flecks it's much smoother than I expected, and all three coatings on in one long day(I was painting at 9 pm when it was still tacky).
Because of the smallish pieces, I used a brush for the two fill coats. The West is the limit of brushable consistency. Pretty stiff. Using the 'checker board' method, I moved along with a nice even coat that tipped off nicely. Seems that laying it on one way in carefully spaced lines then tipping it the other way, the stiff attained a nice viscosity that brushed out nicely.
I'll give it more time to cure before finishing off the nasty edges the cloth leaves and sanding the gloss flat for paint, sometime in the future. Thanks.
