I bought a set of Bosch 18-volt rechargeable tools about 3 years ago(got them "refurbished" for less), and a charger with 12-volt plug. Here's what I have found: All are very well made and rugged, typical Bosch quality The drill is a bit too heavy and bulky compared with what's out there now and has more power than I generally need -- now I would probably get a Lithium ion 12 v rechargeable (many manufacturers), much lighter and smaller and charge really fast (15 minutes!). The Bosch reciprocating saw (jig saw) is superior - haven't seen one like it. Bosch makes very good, very accurate plug-in jig saws (well known to woodworkers) and the battery powered one is excellent also. I use it a lot. The "sawzall" type tool is nice also, works very well, although it's full-sized. Milwaukee and maybe others now have a mini-hacksaw which is small and light and would work for most onboard projects. I also have a 18-volt Bosch 10" chop-saw which works great, but I don't carry it when cruising - too bulky. But it's great for doing jobs at the mooring (I've been replacing trim on my boat). Just as good as a plug in one for relatively small projects.
