I've had a couple of Ryobi 12V cordless drill with the Ni-Cd batteries for several years now. Eventually, found myself with a dead battery pack. Ripped out the batteries and installed an 8' cord with a lighter plug on the far end. Just plug it into 12V on the boat and I'm good to go. The cord is much less of an inconvenience than a dead Ni-Cd battery.
