Good list. I also do use an infrared thermometer. Forgot to say that. It's small and low cost (got mine for US$16.00 on sale), from Harbor Fright and use it all over the boat. I check the engine often, just to make myself feel better. Jill uses it in the oven and Pressure cooker also.

The latest tool type toy I got is a non-contact RPM meter (US$24.00). It's also very small (about the size of a pack of cigarettes). Have not used it a lot yet, got to get back to the boat.
