A friend of ours in Marathon just told of of 8 cruisers that left there last year and did the thorny path to the VI's. He said that after all of them ended up there they all have decided that "cruising" isn't for them and they've all put their boat on the market and they've all gone back to land.

Are the sailing rags only selling the dreams but missing the reality? Are people going cruising for the wrong reasons? Like moving to Fl and thinking fantasy land will make all your problems go away. I find it interesting and disheartening.

Another set of cruisers her said they're well on their way to a new set of friends as all the first set of cruisers they've gotten to know have given up? Is the Caribbean the dead end?
