Unless everything we know (as laymen) about boat construction is wrong Jon, the Justine must displace near twice (I'm just guessing) as much as the M36. Certainly that beautiful boat will cost more new these days. It will require just as much upkeep plus all the systems over and above the D36. Why they aren't in demand is perplexing, economic downtown aside. Maybe they've built enough with the demand for cruising boats at best, stabilized?
I confess I don't know much about many of the other builders. I just have in my mind a morphing sort of picture of boat design over the last say 50 years and while there have been some bizzare things along the way, the picture has evolved over the years into a fairly predictable sailboat. But the last decade seemed a little out of the frame to me. Morris is just one indicator but right now, I'm sure the rest of the industry is watching them right now.
Of course I don't know anymore than you do (probably less) about where it's going but it looks like the sailboat industry is in a sort of limbo right now. It'll be fun to watch.
