Even with our simple 6 foot draft we often can't tuck in. Having a smaller boat has that big advantage.
The other side of it is that the anchorages in many cases aren't anywhere near where you may want to go for groceries or a cocktail. I remember cruising the Exumas, we were in a place called 'Big Majors' (with the pigs) to get to the bar or Thunderball Grotto was 2 miles. The way back was always into the wind and chop. The only way to manage the return was with a big engine and allowing the bow to block the spray. Always wanted to make a collapsible clear dodger for the dingy so we could stay dry bashing into all that s--t.
