That opens up most any anchorage or mooring field to a wide band all the way around the perimeter, that has no boats. Plus, you can get protection in some cases in an anchorage when other boats are very exposed. I remember seeing that trick put to good use in the Bahamas in places like the open roadstead off Georgetown. A few shallow draft boats could go way inside, and it was like night and day.
I would guess you can put that to good use in Mexico as well.
