the Hylas 54 is really a wonderful, large, well designed, cruising boat.

The larger Hylas models just seem less, rather than more, to me.

As for the third screen.. ;^))) You got to have the chart up and occasionally glance at it.

For what it's worth, not to make any excuses, but that's a beautiful place to be sailing on a Summer Day (I've been there a few times.) They just simply weren't paying attention or didn't have the instruments with the chart on for some foolish reason.

Maine (and similar places) give you little warning as the bottom comes up very quickly from deep to almost nothing -- but this isn't some uncharted atoll in the Pacific ;^)))

P.S. - Below the the Ulysses (long before James Joyce) inspired Waterhouse painting of Sirens. Maybe the scene on the Archangel felt similar?
