Sorry, but you're living in the past, you need to get out more... NOBODY does that anymore, other than maybe the CW BOTY testers the week after the Annapolis Boat Show... (grin)
On the other hand, perhaps in this instance the boat being hand-steered WAS the problem, they might have had a better chance making it thru there letting the AP and plotter do all the work...
Another possibility I can envision, is he was using a wireless AP remote to do the steering... With some Raymarine units, if the remote's AAA batteries go dead, it can trip the AP off into STANDBY. No need to ask me how I know this... (grin)
I'd be happy to buy Don Street a case of Heineken, just to hear his take on this one... (grin)
