It's only the speculation from a few here and on Sailnet that electronics even played ANY role-help or hindrance, in this accident.
I think the reasoned remarks following the article on Panbo.com ask some relevant questions about electronic nav aids without the useless speculation. Groundings are not a new problem. http://www.panbo.com/archives/2013/08/summer_bummer_please_dont_blame_charts_or_electronics.html
One thing you should know though, must people wouldn't call this passage rock strewn or even tricky(I'm sad to report,...:)) It's open enough that some of us might not pay as much attention to our location in there as we would, in fact, in a tight rock strewn passage. I've often sailed through along with schooners going in each direction, there's plenty of room you realize after going through.
On the other hand, most going through that passage in question are on their way to Pulpit Harbor where they will thread a needle, just a hundred feet or so wide, to get inside. But everybody is paying attention in that spot!
Yet, there's a bar inside Pulpit Harbor, accurately charted, I've seen hit several times(go figure).
