Well, it related to sailing because as we get more people we get more demand on the water. Moorings in places we use to be able to easily anchor, more idiot boaters making boating on weekends a risky activity. More people means that rich get closer to poor showing the disparity of world financial policies and creating unrest and undo theifts in areas we sail.
Case in point. 25 years ago I did the N Caribbean loop. Poor countries to rich, not one threat, not one theft in 15 month. This trip, much the same area, I had a dinghy stolen in Marsh Harbor, and I witnessed a theft in St. Thomas just a couple of weeks ago (you can find the story on noonsite).
Funny to me that China is about the only country in the world looking at this issues. And funny too that in the US we give tax breaks to familys (people) with more kids, not less!
