I always do. I once had a boat that was rigged to have all lines in the cockpit and it was invariably a problem. Something would always foul when I least needed it to happen. Lucia came thus rigged when I purchased her, and I added the necessary winches at the mast, lead everything there and I've never looked back. As a singlehander, I want to only leave the cockpit in a blow knowing that I'll do it once and everything will work. An added comfort for me is that the standing rigging on my boat is in a place that fits perfectly between my shoulder blades when I'm at the mast giving me added stability.
