I never leave the cockpit to reef but it's slab reefing.

Separate lines for the tack and clew lines led back to the cockpit along with the Main halyard. Clew lines and outhaul led to port side with clutches and and S/T winch. Tack lines to Stbd with main halyard and its S/T winch. Can reef in a minute without leaving the protection of the dodger. Nothing ever hangs up or fouls and it's so easy to reef, I sometimes do it just for fun. Even down to the third reef, don't need to use ties to bundle the loose sail. Nothing used to be so exhilerating as going to the mast in force 5 Plus and 10' seas. Glad that's permanently over for me.

I can't see spending the money on a furling boom. A well set up slab reefing system works so well, at least on boats under 45' or so.
