I've always thought that towing a dingy looks like sloppy seamanship. The only time I can see it is if you're not leaving the harbor. I understand the convenience, especially on a smaller vessel but,,
It just looks sloppy to tow one. Better to bite the bullett and put it aboard. Besides looking sloppy it's a dangerious practice.
Of course, we had davits. If we were moving it was either on davits or on the 13 foot long flush foredeck.
