There's the truth. Shipping a largish OB from dink to boat is a real chore.

I've watched it for years and seen some real knuckle biters! 
The davits are the one way a big RIB and suitable outboard(big RIBs are designed for speed) are going to be an easy way to coastal cruise. Nearly everybody has a dink in tow on the coast of NE, unless they have davits(or go marina to marina, or have a trimaran )

- I always tow my dinghy, but unless I am only going a couple of miles the motor comes off
- You'd have to pry my davits away from my cold dead hands
- There it is. Most miles sailed are with the drag of a dinghy in tow.
