What I'm saying is what I already said.... it's nice to have plenty of power. However, you can't put it to use in a 2-3 foot chop if you have a lightweight inflatable. I have a 9.8 2-stroke Nissan (Tohatsu) on an AB Aria 310 RIB, and in smooth water we can plane and it gets up and goes with two adults aboard. In a chop we'd be airborne more than we'd be in the water, and we'd arrive pretty wet, so I stay at displacement speeds when it's rough, even if it's far. The Admiral wouldn't be happy if I bounced her out of the dink.

YMMV
