Just to add some thoughts about motor weight
In Response To: No ()

My 9.8 2-stroke weighs 60 pounds, about the same as the current crop of Tohatsu (and OEM varients) in the 4/5/6 HP ratings. It might seem light compared to today's 4-strokes, but doing the balancing act of controlling it while mounting and demounting between the dinghy and stern rail is non-trivial, even in calm conditions. Add a one or two foot chop (or more) and it gets downright dicey without some assistance. I tried it by hand a few times and decided there was a good risk it would get away from me or I'd go overboard with it.

I now use a Forespar Motor Mate lift. I think anything over about 30 pounds is too heavy to control one-handed. Yes I can lift more than that but it's a balance and precise control thing along with a strength thing. That might be a consideration for you Gene.
