which is a big problem for most of us......we sell a lot, 100's if not 1000's of our local charts, 13309, 13305, 13303, etc. One customer that is going to find this very difficult are the ship/tanker captains that when in port, Bar Harbor, Searsport, Portland are often looking for the latest current editions.
"§ 164.33 Charts and publications.
(a) Each vessel must have the following:
(1) Marine charts of the area to be transited, published by the National Ocean Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, or a river authority that—
(i) Are of a large enough scale and have enough detail to make safe navigation of the area possible; and
(ii) Are currently corrected."
This will have a large effect on this rule........yes POD charts are easy enough to get and we might find it profitable to buy a large format printer. We shall see.............
