occurred due to that nice oven window, or a wire or some other path for the current to make it's way into the inside of the cage.

On one of the satellites I was working we had a time because one of the sensors wanted to be mounted on an arm extending way out. The wires from that sensor that led back into the cage presented unique problems. But we did work it out.

I currently have all of the wires that extend from control heads on our radios (HAM, SSB and VHF) to the body protected with the same type of shielding used on that boom. It's a copper mesh tape sort of like the photo but almost solid copper. BUT, it's NOT for lightning strike, just to keep the static out. I can HOPE it might help if we ever get struck.
