That solution is worse than the "lazy jack dance"

I had a topping lift on a prior boat with a full roach main, and it was always in the way if the sail came up on the side it wasn't attached. The leech would consistently snag on it while raising and once raised, if the topping lift was to lee the sail would chafe on it. Then there's also the complication of installing and removing the Dutchman every Spring and Fall (or if a hurricane is forecast). As it is, it's a major operation given the sail's size and weight, long with reefing lines etc. Sorry Dave but I think the Dutchman is a bigger problem than the solution it would provide, not worth the trouble or expense in my case. I acknowledge it's probably a great product in other cases.
