In Response To: Survey - who does route planning on their GPS as opposed to just using it for tracking position ()
I will preplan the next days trip using the paper chart and the CP. I set up a safe sided route that allows me to quickly get ETA and favored tack. It also gives my wife/guests a Yellow Brick Road to drive. Inn good weather I will cheat the route, but if weather goes sour I have a fall back. Paper lives in the cockpit. For my auto pilot I am not connected to the GPS and rely on point and shoot.

- What's a GPS? All I need is a stick and a piece of string to do my navigating. '-)
- I use paper charts, verify position with GPS, and mark 1 eyeballs
