I would expect errors from an individual who has written a cruising guide. However; as a one man show and the charts he's created they're much more accurate then anything the mega companies and even the mega countries have for here in Panama!
What I'm getting at mostly is that it is hard for me to believe that a company like Navionics can't get an island in the right place now but they can get all the contour lines right on the island. That on a marine charting program. Mostly yachties and I'm guessing ships don't really care either if they're in 100 m of water or 400 m of water but most everyone cares where the land. And of course if anyone would wish to often peaks and edges of land provide excellent LOP's. But too if the land is in the wrong place then the LOP is going to put you in the wrong place. With the advent of sat photos and geographic coordinates of the land masses one would hope that a company like Navionics would have the charts referenced. One would hope.
And you know more about Bauhaus having errors then I would. I like electronic charting for a rough idea of where everything is at but I don't really follow waypoints (no electronic autopilot ) and when near land; if I can't see what's going on we just hang tight we don't move. I do use way points as a rough guide but maybe of the 100's I"ve actually laid in I've ever arrived at. So trusting an electronic charts is ....anyway..... scary.
